March intake commences voluntary military service
A new generation of young men and women who chose to perform voluntary military service – March 2026 intake – was admitted to Serbian Armed Forces units today.
Upon arrival at the basic training centres located in the Sombor, Valjevo, and Leskovac barracks, the soldiers were subjected to mandatory examinations, were issued weapons and equipment, and were then assigned to their respective units, where their commanding officers briefed them on their rights, responsibilities, and future tasks.Over the next month and a half, they will train at the basic training centres, learning to handle personal weapons, execute basic tactical actions and procedures in combat, and perform guard duties, while simultaneously improving their physical fitness.
They will then undergo individual specialized training for military duties they were recruited for. The second period of their military service will be spent within SAF units, where they will prepare for the execution of collective tasks and be actively involved in daily activities alongside the professional personnel.Soldiers wishing to pursue professional military career can submit their applications while still performing their voluntary military service lasting six months. Once they apply, they will undergo the required procedure, becoming eligible to join the ranks of professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces as soon as they complete their voluntary military service.
