Commissioning ceremony for reserve officer candidates of September 2025 intake
A ceremony marking the completion of military training for reserve officer candidates of the September 2025 intake and their commissioning as reserve second lieutenants was held today at the General Jovan Mišković Barracks in Banjica.
After the decree by the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, was read, officially commissioning the reserve officer candidates as reserve second lieutenants, Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović presented awards to the top-ranked graduates.Assistant Minister Radović said he was honoured to stand before another generation of reserve second lieutenants of the Serbian Armed Forces. He noted that the young men and women are armed with patriotism, strong will, and necessary military knowledge and skills, clearly determined to serve as a shield of the Republic of Serbia.
- These young people, who today bring to a close an important and special chapter in their lives and careers, and who return to their families proudly bearing the well-earned title of reserve officer of the Serbian Armed Forces, did not need a statutory obligation to respond. What led them to answer the call of their country and their armed forces was a far deeper, more fundamental and significant duty – a moral one. It is a duty that stems from the very character of our people, among whom the army and the nation are inseparably linked, indivisible, and ultimately united by history – Assistant Minister Radović said.On behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, he thanked the parents and families of the newly commissioned second lieutenants for raising their daughters and sons, brothers and sisters, in a spirit of patriotism and love of freedom and preparing them to take their place in the ranks. Radović emphasised that the Military Academy had once again fulfilled its mission with this generation of reserve officers in accordance with the legacy and tradition it upholds – with a sense of parental responsibility, dedication, professionalism, and expertise.
- Dear reserve officers, just as you have shown with your actions and decisions that the Serbian Armed Forces can always count on you, from this day on, you should regard and understand the Serbian Armed Forces as your home and the knowledge and experience you have gained at the Military Academy as a firm support in all the challenges that await you in the course of your future lives – Assistant Minister Radović emphasised. He added that, to the pride of their parents, relatives, friends, and all of us, they should continue to serve as an example to young people across Serbia of what it means to serve one’s people and one’s homeland. At today’s ceremony, candidates were commissioned as reserve second lieutenants in the Air Force Branch, Quartermaster Service, Logistics Technical Service, as well as Financial and Medical Services. Top of the class was Milena Stojanović from the 114th Quartermaster Service class, graduating with a GPA of 9.55. Ranked second was Jovan Ničić from the 111th Technical Service class, with a GPA of 9.54. Third in the class was Jelena Đorđević from the 24th Medical Service class, with a GPA of 9.53.
The top-ranked officer of the September 2025 class, Milena Stojanović, addressed those in attendance, saying that the young men and women gathered there had come from different parts of the country and had different life experiences, yet were united by the same desire burning in their hearts, to stand, from this day forward, as guardians of their country, filled with responsibility and pride.- We only have one homeland, it is the heart and soul of our people, a witness to the courage, sacrifice, and strength of our ancestors. Through their loyalty and love for their homeland, our ancestors built the foundations on which we stand today. Now it is our turn to preserve those foundations, to build upon them and reinforce them – said Reserve Second Lieutenant Stojanović, emphasising that thanks to the wisdom, patience, and exemplary behaviour of their commanding officers, individual trainees had become a formation, an inseparable team guided by honour, strengthened by unity, and placing the homeland above all else. They had learned that character is forged through discipline and that responsibility shapes the person.
