Minister Gašić attends opening of Information Security Centre



Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today a ceremonial event to celebrate the opening of the Information Security Centre within the Telecommunications and IT Department (J-6) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff.
Minister Gašić congratulated the members of the newly established unit and emphasised the significance of the Information Security Centre for strengthening the operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.

- By establishing the Information Security Centre, we are additionally strengthening the capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in an area that today constitutes one of the key pillars of national security. I am confident that the members of this new unit, through their knowledge, expertise, and dedication, will make a significant contribution to protecting our country – the Minister of Defence stated, stressing that the launch of the Centre reaffirms a real commitment to the continuous advancement of the defence system in response to contemporary security challenges.

Speaking at the event, Major General Mile Vitezović, Head of the Telecommunications and IT Department, noted that we live in an era in which the rapid advancement of information and communication technologies has a considerable impact on both individuals and organisational systems, and that the functioning of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces has become inconceivable without them.
- The establishment of the Information Security Centre has given us a specialized unit that will serve as the first line of defence for our information assets and an early warning system, alerting us of risks and threats to overall security. In addition, the Centre is the core of our future offensive cyber capabilities – Major General Vitezović said.

The Head of the Information Security Centre, Colonel Zoran Perišić, stated that the Centre is equipped with state-of-the-art security software tools for system monitoring and protection, ensuring its reliability in the execution of its task. He underscored that information security rests not only on technology, but also on knowledge, experience, and ethical responsibility of the personnel.

At the launch of the new Serbian Armed Forces unit, attended by members of the collegiums of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, a film about the Security Information Centre was screened.

The newly formed Centre is a unique, specialized institution tasked with safeguarding the information and communication system and services of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Its scope of work includes continuous monitoring, analysing, and controlling the information security of the systems in operational use, employing both active and passive protective measures.
