Minister Gašić meets with Deputy Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan



Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Agil Gurbanov, at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade.

Minister Gašić welcomed the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation, noting that the high-level nature of the visit indicates that the friendship between the two countries is developing in the best possible way.

The Minister of Defence expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.

He emphasized that overall relations between the two countries are excellent, with a clear tendency toward further advancement, and noted that Serbia views Azerbaijan as a strategic partner.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed defence cooperation, emphasizing Serbia’s commitment to enhancing cooperation both in scope and quality for the mutual benefit of both nations. The Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2026 signed in Baku earlier this week, was highlighted as the basis for the further development and strengthening of defence relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan.
The Deputy Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan, Agil Gurbanov, expressed his satisfaction with today’s meeting and the opportunity to discuss matters that contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan, as well as concrete initiatives to advance it.

Acting Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović and the Head of the Development and Equipment Department (J-5) of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Brigadier General Stanisav Mijailović, were also in attendance at the meeting.
