Minister Gašić visits 22nd Infantry Battalion in Požega
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić began his two-day visit to the Zlatibor District today, paying a visit to the 22nd Infantry Battalion of the 2nd Army Brigade stationed at the Petar Leković Barracks in Požega.
Deputy Commander of the 22nd Infantry Battalion, Major Marko Gligorić, briefed the Minister of Defence on the unit’s primary tasks and plans for the upcoming period.Minister Gašić inspected the soldiers’ accommodation facilities and highlighted the importance of continued investment in improving the living standards of the Serbian Armed Forces personnel.
- Today, we had the opportunity to see first-hand the great commitment and sense of responsibility with which members of the 22nd Infantry Battalion carry out their assigned tasks. The Serbian Armed Forces are a cornerstone of national security and it is our duty to invest continuously in our personnel and in their working and living conditions, so they can perform their duties in the best possible environment. Investments in infrastructure, the refurbishment of accommodation facilities, and the provision of modern living and working conditions are part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening the defence system, and a clear message that the state takes care of every one of its soldiers – Minister Gašić said.
Minister Gašić noted that by strengthening the Serbian Armed Forces we also strengthen our state. He expressed pride in every member of the defence system who serves the country with honour, and added that the state will continue to invest in the Serbian Armed Forces and their development.The Minister of Defence also visited the Memorial Room and the chapel located at the Petar Leković Barracks.
During today’s visit, Minister Gašić was joined by Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, Deputy Army Commander, Brigadier General Vladan Milosavljević, Commander of the 2nd Army Brigade, Brigadier General Nebojša Nedeljković, and the Head of the Office of the Minister of Defence, Colonel Nikola Matović.
