Training on modern artillery systems

Members of the Mixed Artillery Brigade are conducting training in the area surrounding the unit’s peacetime base in Niš, using the 155 mm B-52 M-15 Nora self-propelled gun-howitzers is underway.
The purpose of the training is to maintain the personnel’s level of proficiency and improve their individual and collective skills. Howitzer crews are practicing emplacement, shifting the combat system from marching to firing position, spotting targets and calculating firing data within prescribed standards.

Second Lieutenant Maja Stojiljković, deputy commander of a self-propelled gun-howitzer artillery battery, emphasizes that achieving success in operations depends not only on proper handling of the equipment, but also on a solid understanding of tactics.
   — The self-propelled howitzer is technologically advanced and automated, and it is the crew’s responsibility to make full use of its capabilities. Training is not limited to firing the weapon. It also includes tactical maneouvers, system maintenance, getting familiar with its functions, and making right decisions, said 2nd Lt Stojiljković.

What awaits the combat crews next, is more complex field training and firing practices, where they will be able to demonstrate their tactical and firing skills necessary for the execution of tasks during combat operations.
The importance of introducing this modern system into service in the Serbian Armed Forces is reflected in the improved combat ability of the Mixed Artillery Brigade, which is now capable of providing more reliable, faster, and more precise artillery-missile support to Army units in operations.
