President Vučić visits SAF units in Niš

The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, visited Serbian Armed Forces units stationed at the Mija Stanimirović Barracks in Niš today.
He was accompanied by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.

During the visit, President Vučić was briefed on the staffing levels and the current status of armaments, military equipment, and war reserves.
President Vučić noted that, despite the tense and volatile geopolitical and regional situation, the Serbian Armed Forces are seeing higher staffing levels than in previous years.

- The inflow of soldiers is higher than the outflow. This year and next, the inflow will be significantly higher thanks to the legislative changes adopted by the National Assembly that allow professional soldiers to secure permanent employment. At the same time, it appears to me that rising salaries and a strong sense of patriotism and loyalty towards the country’s most important and popular institution are drawing more people to the military – President Vučić stated.
He emphasized that the armed forces’ food reserves are at 100 percent, that fuel reserves are quite large, some even exceeding full capacity, and that only aviation fuel is slightly below optimal levels, though this issue is being addressed. He added that ammunition stocks are also at a very high level.

President Vučić noted that the Serbian Armed Forces today are completely different from those of ten years ago, particularly with regard to equipment and weaponry, and stressed the importance of continued modernization. He added that Serbia will work to ensure that, in the next few years, the Armed Forces acquire around 70,000 to 80,000 kamikaze drones, and that both the production and procurement of weapons continue to accelerate in Serbia.
At the Niš barracks, the President also visited a display of weapons and military equipment, where the following systems were showcased: the PULS modular self-propelled multiple rocket launchers, the PASARS and Mistral air-defence missile systems, the M-84 AS1/2 tank, the M-80 AB1/2 infantry fighting vehicle, the Lazar-3, Humvee, and Miloš armoured combat vehicles, and the GM-200 radar system. The display also included the 155 mm NORA self-propelled howitzer, reconnaissance and combat drones, and various types of small arms and other military equipment.
During the tour, the President and members of the Defence Minister’s and the Chief of the General Staff’s collegiums watched a demonstration showcasing a portion of the capabilities of the HQ-17AE air-defence missile battery.
