Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff meets with KFOR Commander
Today, the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, met with KFOR Commander Major General Özkan Ulutaş to discuss security situation in our southern province.
The topics discussed at the meeting held in Belgrade included activities undertaken to monitor the situation on the ground, de-escalate the crisis, and, ultimately, preserve peace and security in Kosovo and Metohija.During the conversation, it was noted that the security situation in Kosovo and Metohija is extremely sensitive, demanding that KFOR act in full accordance with its mandate. It is also necessary for the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR to carry on with joint activities and maintain contact at all levels.
General Mojsilović underscored that unilateral moves by the provisional institutions of self-government in Priština pose the greatest threat to security and asked the KFOR Commander to take necessary steps to protect the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija in accordance with the mandate of the international peacekeeping force - the only legitimate armed formation in the Province, and especially during the campaign ahead of the upcoming elections in Kosovo and Metohija.
He also noted that the Republic of Serbia does not look favourably on the continuous arming and training of the so-called “Kosovo Security Force”, claiming that these are provocative acts that do not contribute to peace and security.
