New generation of soldiers commences military service
The Serbian Armed Forces’ basic training centres have welcomed the December 2025 intake of volunteer recruits. Over the next six months, they will undergo training to qualify for military occupational specialties across various branches and services of the Serbian Armed Forces.
Upon arrival at the barracks in Sombor, Valjevo, and Leskovac, the soldiers underwent mandatory medical examinations, were issued weapons and equipment, and were assigned to their units, where commanders briefed them on their rights, responsibilities, and upcoming duties. They will spend the next six weeks at basic training centres, learning how to handle personal weapons, carry out basic tactical actions and combat procedures, and perform guard duties, while simultaneously improving their physical fitness.
This phase will be followed by individual specialized training for military duties within their respective branches and services. They will then spend the second part of their military service in Serbian Armed Forces units, where they will learn how to carry out collective tasks and take an active role in daily activities alongside professional personnel.Soldiers interested in joining the professional military may apply during their voluntary military service. Those who do so will undergo the required selection process and, upon meeting all criteria, will be eligible to become professional members of the Serbian Armed Forces immediately after completing their military duty.
