Minister Gašić meets with Ambassador of Arab Republic of Egypt
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today in Belgrade with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Serbia, H.E. Ahmed Salam Suleyman.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Gašić expressed his pleasure at their first meeting and the opportunity to discuss both defence cooperation and ways to further develop overall relations between the two countries. He wished Ambassador Suleyman every success during his tenure in Serbia.The Minister of Defence emphasized that the Republic of Serbia and Egypt have fostered a friendly relationship for over a century, which provides a sound basis for developing defence cooperation. He also noted that the particularly close relationship between Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has further strengthened and expanded cooperation between the two countries.
He also praised the scope and number of activities conducted under the Joint Egypt-Serbia Military Committee and the Military Technical Committee, highlighting them as a clear indicator of firm and friendly relations between the two countries.During the meeting, both parties agreed that while the current defence cooperation is strong, there is still room for improvement.
The Egyptian Ambassador thanked Minister Gašić for the opportunity to discuss ways to develop and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
