Donation presented to owners of properties damaged in Vinci resort village fire
Today, the Ministry of Defence presented a donation to the Municipality of Golubac, consisting of carpentry materials and timber valued at around 5 million dinars. The donation is earmarked for homeowners in the Vinci resort village whose properties were damaged in the fire in June and early July this year.
The timber and carpentry materials were produced at the Military Construction Institute Belgrade’s wood processing plant in Šabac. The Ministry of Defence secured another donor who, over the past several days, delivered construction materials, including roofing panels and tiles, roof battens, and insulation worth around 3 million dinars, to homeowners in the Vinci resort village.
At the donation handover, the President of the Golubac Municipal Assembly, Aleksandar Đukić, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Defence for its assistance in putting out the fire and for the aid provided for the owners of damaged properties.
- The fire that struck part of the village destroyed several residential and holiday homes. The Ministry of Defence took all necessary steps to prevent further damage and later facilitated the provision of construction materials for the affected families. The first shipment of aid was delivered last Friday, and the second one has arrived today. Roofing structures and PVC joinery are currently being unloaded to help make the houses habitable again – said Mr Đukić.Branka Žemberi Dikić from Belgrade said that residents received roof tiles and building blocks last week, and that today’s shipment includes timber roof structures and new doors and windows.
- The most important thing is to install a new roof before the rain and snow, to prevent further damage. We’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well-organized the Serbian Armed Forces personnel is, and how smoothly the work is going – said Ms Žemberli Dikić. Jovan Radojčić from Belgrade also praised the organization and expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Defence for making sure the aid arrived on town. He said that the next steps will be repairing the roof and installing new doors and windows.
At the initiative of the Ministry of Defence, the Government of the Republic of Serbia has approved one-time assistance for owners of properties damaged in the fire in the Vinci resort village to help them recover from the fire.
