Specialist training for military police officers and NCOs
A joint tactical exercise has been conducted at the Rastko Nemanjić barracks in Pančevo, bringing together officers and non-commissioned officers of the Serbian Armed Forces’ Military Police, who are attending different levels of professional training aimed at enhancing their skills in performing military police duties and missions.
Over the course of three days, the trainees carried out activities at the Pančevo barracks’ training ground, putting into practice the theoretical knowledge they had previously acquired in military police tactics. The exercise focused on the tactical use of newly acquired equipment in protecting designated individuals, controlling military road traffic, and conducting operations to retake an occupied facility. A range of military police vehicles were used, along with modern small arms, military police equipment, motorcycles, drones, and military working dogs.

One of the non-commissioned officers attending the military police training programme noted that participants rotated through all positions within a squad or team during the training.
- For me, the most interesting segment of the tactical training were counter-terrorism operations in an urban environment. This task involves a wide range of measures, actions, and procedures, and it demands complete team coordination, flawless weapon handling, and constant communication. The whole operation takes place in a relatively small area and within a short period of time, which requires quick decision-making and there is no room for mistakes – the NCO said.
Major General Milan Lazić, Head of the Military Police Department, and Brigadier General Miroslav Talijan, Commander of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade, visited the trainees at the Rastko Nemanjić barracks. They were able to see firsthand that the trainees were highly motivated and that they had achieved an impressive level of specialist proficiency, through hard work and under the expert guidance of their instructors. The military police is responsible for performing police work within the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Equipped with modern weapons and equipment of domestic and foreign production and supported by continuous training, the military police maintains the capabilities required to effectively carry out tasks mandated to them by the law, other regulations, or commander’s orders within all three missions of the Serbian Armed Forces.
