Minister Gašić attends ceremony marking Security Information Agency Day

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today a ceremony marking the Security Information Agency (BIA) Day, held in Belgrade.
At the ceremony, Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić, acting as an envoy of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, emphasized that over two decades of its existence, the Agency has proven to be one of the fundamental and most important pillars of stability within Serbia’s security system.

- Although, by the nature of your work, you often remain hidden from public view, and although you work is not always obviously visible, you are primarily responsible, through your actions, for protecting our constitutional order, our institutions, and consequently all our citizens, their will, dignity, freedom, and right to decide their own fate. You ensure that no one else makes those decisions on their behalf or imposes such decisions on them – said the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiosav Janković, along with members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

The event marked the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the Security Information Agency and 126 years since the establishment of the Department for Confidential Police Affairs.
As a civil and national security service, the Security Information Agency is responsible for protecting the security of the Republic of Serbia. Its mission includes preventing and detecting activities that threaten the constitutional order, gathering and analysing security intelligence, and reporting to the relevant state authorities in accordance with the Law on the Security Information Agency.
