Climbing and mountain rescue instructor training course underway

Members of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade are currently undergoing an advanced climbing and mountain rescue training course in the mountainous terrain of the Ovčar-Kablar Gorge.
This three-week specialized training course is designed to equip participants with practical and methodological skills needed to independently conduct climbing instruction and courses in search and rescue operations in mountainous and difficult-to-access terrain. A special objective of the training is to enhance the trainees’ proficiency in the use of mountaineering and rescue equipment, as well as in organizing safe operations and carrying out combat missions in mountainous environments during the summer months.

Following the successful completion of the theoretical phase at the barracks, the trainees are now undergoing practical training, conducted in a training area. This includes practising techniques and tactics for navigating difficult terrain, climbing steep cliffs, and conducting rescue and evacuation of individuals in danger.
The training uses cutting-edge climbing, mountaineering, and rescue equipment that is in service at the Serbian Armed Forces special operations unit. This allows trainees to improve their technical skills and gain practical experience using state-of-the-art search and rescue technologies.

By successfully completing the course, the 72nd Special Operations Brigade will gain newly certified instructors, fully trained to deliver courses for complex and high-risk missions in support of search and rescue operations. At the same time, the course will significantly enhance the ability of combat teams to respond effectively to real-world scenarios in challenging mountains terrain.
