The Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, accompanied by his delegation, visited the capital of Cyprus – Nicosia, where he attended a military parade held today on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Cyprus’s independence.
The Serbian Armed Forces delegation attended the parade at the invitation of Lieutenant General Georgios Tsitsikostas, Chief of the National Guard of Cyprus. General Tsitsikostas hosted a reception for General Mojsilović and the Serbian delegation the evening prior to the military parade.

During the conversation, the two sides emphasized the close ties and friendship between the two countries and nations and agreed that the military-to-military cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus has been both substantive and fruitful, with potential for further advancement in new areas of mutual interest.
Since General Tsitsikostas’s professional military service is about to end soon, the Chief of the General Staff expressed his appreciation for his cooperation and professionalism, wished him good health and happiness in his well-deserved retirement. He also expressed confidence that the upward trend in bilateral military cooperation would continue under the leadership of the new Chief of the National Guard.

During the visit, General Mojsilović spoke with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Minister of Defence, Vasilis Palmas. During the meeting, they reflected on the military parade and exchanged views on the current security challenges across the European continent. Both sides agreed that strengthening defence cooperation serves the interests of both countries and contributes to further strengthening the close and friendly relations between the two countries and nations. The President and the Minister of Defence of Cyprus expressed their appreciation for the attendance of the high-level military delegation from the Republic of Serbia at the celebration of the anniversary of Cyprus’s independence.
The Chief of the General Staff also met with the Deputy Minister of National Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Athanasios Davakis. The two officials positively assessed the results of the bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Greece and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening relations in the field of defence.

The military parade in Nicosia showcased modern combat systems from the arsenal of the National Guard of Cyprus, including products of the Serbian defence industry – the 155 mm Aleksandar self-propelled howitzer, the Miloš armoured vehicle, and, to the surprise of the citizens watching the parade, the 122/262 mm Tamnava self-propelled multiple rocket launcher.
The Serbian Armed Forces delegation included Brigadier General Stanislav Mijailović, Head of the Development and Equipment Department (J-5), Colonel Aleksandar Stupar, Commander of the 63rd Parachute Brigade, and Colonel Boris Stojković, Head of the Chief of the General Staff’s Office.
