Oath-taking ceremony for cadets and Reserve Officer Course participants

Today, a formal oath-taking ceremony was held at the General Jovan Mišković barracks in Banjica for cadets of the 150th class of the Military Academy, the 17th class of the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, and the September class of the Reserve Officer Course candidates.
Addressing the future officers, the Rector of the Defence University, Brigadier General Prof. Dr. Boban Đorović, said that in the ceremonial formation standing in front of him, he sees the future guardians of freedom, defenders of the homeland, and worthy heirs to the proud military and patriotic traditions of our people and our armed forces.

- The military oath is a pledge of honour, responsibility, and service to a higher cause. You have given your word, a solemn and binding promise, that you will protect and defend the Republic of Serbia. The uniform of a Serbian officer is a part of our past, but also an essential part of our country’s present and future. It is synonymous with order, discipline, and security.  From this day on, it is your duty to keep that uniform untarnished, to preserve it and, in time, pass it on to the next generation as something sacred – General Đorović said, emphasizing that this is a special day for both the military and the state, a moment where patriotic youth and military courage come together in unity.
Cadet Sara Milikić from Sjenica chose to pursue a major in Materials Engineering and Protection, emphasizing the advantages of studying at the Military Academy.

- All of us here love our homeland, but another reason I chose the Military Academy is because it offers top-quality education, excellent professors, and great living conditions for cadets, including access to a sports centre, gym, and sports courts. One of the advantages is also job security after graduation, and in addition to that, we also receive a monthly payment as part of our scholarship – said Cadet Milikić, adding with pride that her parents and two younger sisters had come to support her on this special day.
After finishing the Military Grammar School, Cadet Vuk Dumić from Prijepolje decided to enrol in the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, drawn by opportunities provided by the military and the Ministry of Defence.

- What my future profession primarily gives me is the opportunity to help people. That is why I decided, at just 14, to enrol in the Military Grammar School. And when I realized I could do that not only as an officer but also as a doctor, I chose to enrol in the Medical Faculty of the MMA. It offers great advantages, including professors who are always with us, who support us in class, and who also work at the Military Medical Academy. My mother, father, friends, and close relatives have come from Prijepolje to support me today – said Cadet Dumić.
The ceremony was attended by the Head of the Military Office of the President of the Republic of Serbia Brigadier General Predrag Kraljević, Head of the Human Resources Department (J-1) of the General Staff Brigadier General Slađan Hristov, Head of the Telecommunications and IT Department (J-6) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Mile Vitezović, representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, Commandant of the Military Academy Colonel Prof. Dr. Srđan Blagojević, along with officials from government and educational institutions, representatives of religious communities, and the parents, family members, and friends of the cadets and reserve officers.
