Dress rehearsal held for Power of Unity military parade



Minister of Defence and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, attended today a dress rehearsal for the Power Unity military parade, which will be held on Saturday, September 20, starting at 11 A.M., in front of the Palace of Serbia in New Belgrade.
On that occasion, Minister Gašić expressed his gratitude to all members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who have for months been involved in the preparation for the military parade marking the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
– I am proud of every member of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces who have invested maximum effort over the past period, showing that they are worthy of the insignia they wear. On Saturday, at the plateau near the Palace of Serbia and at the Danube Quay, citizens will have the opportunity to see how much our armed forces have progressed in the past period. They will be able to see first-hand the strength of our military, which proudly stands in defence of our homeland. Our soldiers are Serbia’s source of pride - emphasized Minister Gašić.

The parade will feature more than 10,000 participants, approximately 2,500 weapons and pieces of military equipment, along with more than 600 vehicles, 70 aircraft and 20 vessels.
Visitors will be able to view the march-past of unit echelons from all branches and services of the Serbian Armed Forces, as well as Military Academy cadets, vehicle-mounted units and Riverine Flotilla vessels. The military parade programme also includes a capability demonstration by the Special-Purpose Military Police Detachment “Cobras”, an exhibition drill performed by Guardsmen, as well as a parachute jump by members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade.

The fly-past will feature all types of aircraft, including the MiG-29, “Orao”, C-295 CASA, Mi-35M and H-145.
The parade will showcase numerous types of weapons and military equipment, including “FK-3” and HQ-17 air defence missile systems, modern GM400 radars, “Miloš”, “MRAP”, “Lazar 3”, Humvee armoured combat vehicles, “BOV OT” armoured personnel carrier, modernized M-84 AC1//2/3 tanks, modernized M80 AB1/2 armoured infantry fighting vehicles, 155mm NORA self-propelled gun-howitzers, as well as modernized PASARS anti-aircraft systems, UAVs, and reconnaissance and combat drones.
