Meeting between Minister Gašić and Ambassador of Democratic Republic of Congo Mulamba

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met today with the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Serbia, H.E. Joseph Kalala Mulamba.
At today’s meeting, the Minister of Defence expressed his gratitude for Congo’s principled position regarding its non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo, and emphasized the importance of supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country. He said that any outcome of the Belgrade-Priština dialogue must be in full accordance with the UN SC Resolution 1244, the Military Technical Agreement and other relevant international documents.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Serbia and Congo share historic ties and a relationship spanning more than 60 years. Due to that fact, Serbia remains committed to maintaining and continuously improving this relationship, including in the field of defence, as evidenced by the Agreement on Defence Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo signed in Belgrade in 2023. The agreement established a formal framework for further development of defence cooperation.

Both sides agreed that there is mutual interest in establishing and strengthening cooperation in all areas of shared interest.
Ambassador Mulamba expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to engage in a conversation and stressed that Congo and Serbia share common values. He expressed his belief that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop to the mutual benefit of both nations.
