Regular SAF unit rotation in peacekeeping mission in Lebanon

Members of the Serbian Armed Forces force protection platoon, who served in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Lebanon, have returned to the Republic of Serbia after successfully participating in the mission.
Over the past six months, this unit drawn from the Training Command, was responsible for securing the base where the contingent of Italian peacekeepers is stationed.

In a complex security landscape, SAF members performed their duties responsibly and professionally, proudly representing our armed forces and our country. They have been relieved by fellow personnel, also from the Training Command, who were deployed to the area of operations at the beginning of the month, with the same mission and mandate.
The rotation was formally conducted this week at the UN base in Lebanon, with the Sector Commander in attendance. At the ceremony held on that occasion, United Nations medals were awarded to the members of the Serbian Armed Forces in recognition of their successful participation in the mission and their contribution to peacebuilding and peacekeeping efforts.

The Serbian Armed Forces personnel have been participating in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon since 2010. In addition to the force protection platoon, the Serbian contingent currently serving in the mission also includes staff officers assigned to the mission headquarters, and a group of specialist officers responsible for providing support to our contingent.
