220th anniversary of Battle of Ivankovac commemorated

Today, a delegation from the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces laid a wreath and paid tribute at the monument to Vojvoda Milenko Stojković at the memorial complex Šančevi na Ivankovcu near Ćuprija, to commemorate the 220th anniversary of the Battle of Ivankovac.
The state ceremony was attended by Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Nebojša Nikolić, Acting Assistant Minister for Human Resources Siniša Radović, Head of the Human Resources Department (J-1) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Slađan Hristov, Head of the Training and Doctrine Department (J-7) of the General Staff, Brigadier General Siniša Stašević, along with representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.
The Battle of Ivankovac, which took place on August 18, 1805, marked a major Serbian victory over Ottoman forces during the First Serbian Uprising. As one of the greatest and most significant triumphs of Karađorđe’s rebels, led by Milenko Stojković, it remains a powerful example of a well-conceived and skilfully executed military operation. With their victory at Ivankovac, Serbian rebels demonstrated immense courage and patriotism – values that, even 220 years later, remain deeply rooted in the national identity and among members of the Serbian Armed Forces.
