Serbian Armed Forces’ engineer units assisting local residents in Sjenica Municipality

At the request of local government authorities, engineer units of the Serbian Armed Forces are taking part in the reconstruction of macadam roads in the Sjenica Municipality. They are currently working on improving road infrastructure in the village of Bare. By doing so, the Serbian Armed Forces are providing essential support to the local community, helping improve transportation links and making it easier for residents to connect with the town.
As explained by Lieutenant Danilo Božović, road construction platoon leader from the 210th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Army Brigade, the team of engineers deployed at this location is equipped with five engineering machines and three motor vehicles.

— The works began on July 14. So far, we have completed road reconstruction in the village of Crčevo, and today we are in the village of Bare, where we are working on filling a road section, preparing and constructing the roadbed, and shaping side slopes and drainage canals – explained Lieutenant Božović.

Živan Bradić, a resident of the village of Blato, which is part of Bare in the Sjenica municipality, emphasized that every time he and his neighbours travelled to Sjenica, they requested that a proper road be constructed. He said the road means a great deal to them, so their gratitude to the Serbian Armed Forces for coming to reconstruct it is even greater.
— We use that road whenever we need to go to Sjenica – whether to pay bills, buy groceries, or get feed for the cattle. We don’t have any other road. The reconstruction of this road means a lot to us. But we still have another issue. There’s a three-kilometre section of road, just before the one where the construction started, that also needs repair. About ten or twelve houses are there, mostly elderly residents, no children. We’ve been working together with the soldiers, helping out whenever a tree or branch needs to be cleared. Our people are widening the road so that the military machines aren’t damaged. Everyone is grateful and satisfied – we’re getting along very well with the military – said Živan Bradić.

Radiša Knežević, Vice President of the Sjenica Municipality, emphasized that the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the local government has been exceptional for years.
— Whenever we faced difficulties, we turned to our Armed Forces for help. Over the past two weeks, two roads leading to Novi Pazar were repaired in a different area – at the foot of Mount Golija, in the villages of Crčevo and Šare, where we reconstructed about five kilometres of road. Many school and preschool children live there, and this project has made it easier for them to get to school and back. A few days ago, the military moved its equipment to Bare, Sjenica, where we are now reconstructing two more roads – in the villages of Blato and Grgaje. We also received valuable assistance from local residents, who helped clear branches blocking the paths through the forest to ensure the Serbian Armed Forces’ machines could pass smoothly – explained Knežević. He expressed his gratitude to all officers and soldiers, especially the members of the 2nd Army Brigade, for their continued support.

The Engineer Corps’ work in the village of Bare, Sjenica, highlights the Serbian Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to supporting the citizens of the Republic of Serbia. Their efforts are making a meaningful impact by improving living conditions and strengthening connectivity across the municipality. This mission also serves as an important opportunity for the troops to apply and enhance their skills in operating engineering machinery, road construction, obstacle removal, as well as in blocking and camouflage techniques.
