Serbian Armed Forces observe their Patron Saint’s Day
Today, the Serbian Armed Forces solemnly observed their Patron Saint’s Day – Saint Despot Stefan the Tall – holding ceremonies across commands, units and military institutions. On this occasion, the Divine Hierarchical Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Mark in Belgrade, and a festive lunch was hosted at the Guard Club in Topčider, attended by the Minister of Defence, Bratislav Gašić.

The host of the celebration, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, extended his congratulations to members of the Serbian Armed Forces and all citizens observing Saint Despot Stefan Day. He emphasized that by observing their Patron Saint’s Day, the Serbian Armed Forces continue to uphold spiritual and national values, reinforce their moral strength, and honour their tradition and identity.

After reading the Holy Gospel, Bishop Dositej delivered a sermon in which he reminded every soldier that their duty is not only to defend the borders but also to uphold the truth, to serve not just the people but also God. He emphasized that Saint Sefan teaches us that military honour is greatest when consecrated by faith.
