Minister Gašić meets with Ambassador of Azerbaijan Khasiyev
Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Serbia, H.E. Kamil Khasiyev, in Belgrade today.
At the beginning of the meeting, it was highlighted that excellent relations between presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Ilham Aliyev contribute to strengthening the cooperation between the two traditionally close countries, free of any unresolved issues, and provide a solid foundation for overall bilateral relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan. It was also stated that the overall relationship between the two countries is very good, showing a tendency to improve further, and it was highlighted that Azerbaijan is one of Serbia’s strategic partners. Minister Gašić said that the Republic of Serbia is extremely grateful to Azerbaijan for providing principled and unreserved support for the territorial integrity and wholeness of our country in numerous international organizations on the issue of Serbia’s southern province of Kosovo and Metohija.
The two officials agreed that defence cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan is well developed and intensive, and shows considerable potential for improvement. They also emphasized that in the coming period, the focus will be placed on making the cooperation concrete, in accordance with agreements reached at the highest levels.During the meeting, there was talk about the upcoming defence exhibition that is to be held in Belgrade, Partner 2025, and Minister Gašić expressed hope that a delegation from Azerbaijan would take part in the event.
Ambassador Khasiyev thanked Minister Gašić for the meeting and the opportunity to discuss topics that are important for the two friendly countries. He also emphasized the importance of Azerbaijani investments in Serbia, as good business relations will help support and strengthen cooperation in all areas, particularly in defence.
