Distinguished Visitors Day at Platinum Wolf 25 Multinational Exercise

Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and General Milan Mojsilović, Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, have attended today, at the Base South near Bujanovac, the Distinguished Visitors Day at the multinational tactical training exercise Platinum Wolf 25.

The exercise involved more than 700 members of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Romania, North Macedonia, the United States of America, Montenegro and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Minister Gašić spent the night before the exercise with soldiers at the Base South, and after today’s demonstration, he congratulated all participants and emphasized the importance of Platinum Wolf as one of the key examples of successful international military cooperation.

 - This exercise confirms the capability of the Serbian Armed Forces to participate in peacekeeping operations and respond to all security challenges, side by side with partners from all over the world. Cooperation with our partners not only strengthens interoperability, but also deepens trust and mutual commitment to preserving peace - the Minister of Defence said and thanked all members of the Serbian Armed Forces and foreign armed forces who contributed with their knowledge, professionalism and dedication to the successful implementation of the exercise, which is being held at one of the most modern bases of the Serbian Armed Forces, which, among other things, also has a modern deployable medical treatment facility.
Colonel Miodrag Mladenović, Deputy Commander of the 4th Army Brigade and exercise director, has emphasized that the 4th Army Brigade is responsible for planning and execution of the Platinum Wolf exercise in cooperation with the Multinational Operations Pre-Deployment Training Centre of the Serbian Armed Forces, and that it traditionally involves members of the armed forces of the regional and other partner countries.

 - The goal of this exercise is to improve interoperability and mutual understanding between the armies of partner countries in performing tasks in a multinational environment in peace support operations - the exercise director, Colonel Mladenović, said.

Director of the Joint Staff at Ohio National Guard, Brigadier General Jeffrey Watkins, said he was grateful for the opportunity for members of the US Armed Forces to participate in Platinum Wolf exercise this year and to train together with their colleagues from Serbia.

- It is important that we practise together to see what our capabilities are, to use equipment together and practise tactics, techniques and procedures, and you could see during the exercise that we are creating cohesion and strong teams between the participants - General Watkins said.

Exercise observers had the opportunity to see well-practised tactics, techniques and procedures performed by the multinational units in peacekeeping operations. This year, for the first time, members of the Balkan Medical Task Force were also engaged, taking an active part in the segments of the exercise related to the provision of medical assistance and medical evacuation in crisis situations.

At the locations of the Base South, Borovac training ground and Vrtogoš shooting range, the participants practised a series of tactical scenarios - from securing bases and convoys, through patrolling and searching the terrain, to urban combat.

Today’s exercise was attended by Deputy Army Commander, Major General Zoran Dragićević, representatives of the Armed Forces of the participating countries and the military-diplomatic corps.

Platinum Wolf multinational exercise, hosted by Serbia since 2014, is organized by the Serbian Armed Forces and the United States European Command (USEUCOM), and its importance is reflected in increasing the capabilities of Serbian Armed Forces units for engagement in multinational operations.
