Training of fighter aviation forward air controllers

In the 126th Air Surveillance units of the Early Warning and Guidance Brigade (ASEWG), forward air controllers are being trained to guide fighter aircraft and provide navigation support to military aircraft in emergency situations.
This activity is part of regular training of officers performing the duties of forward air controllers in ASEWG companies, and its purpose is to maintain their proficiency, adhering to highest aircraft control and guidance standards.

The training is being conducted on the newly introduced SOVA 24 system that processes and displays the aerial situation and provides automatic control and in coordination with the flight training of fighter aircraft crews.
The training, conducted in real time and using real-world scenarios, helps them acquire the necessary skills to be engaged as part of forces that constantly monitor and protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.

Forward air controllers are also collaborating with the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency. Together they are practising the handover of responsibility for providing air navigation services to military aircraft in the airspace of the Republic of Serbia, and the focus is communication using the proper aviation phraseology.
This training, which is carried out in the 126th ASEWG Brigade throughout the year, helps improve the cooperation and interoperability between all participants in aviation communication, and, consequently, enhances the overall ability of the Air Force and Air Defence to control and protect the airspace of the Republic of Serbia.
