3rd Army Brigade units undergo combat training

Units of the 3rd Army Brigade have completed stationary camp at the Pasuljanske Livade Training Ground conducting tactical drills and firing using branch-specific weapons.

During the multi-day stay in the field, members of the Brigade’s infantry, artillery, tank and mechanised battalions, with the support of engineering and logistics units, also conducted live-fire tactical exercises that are an essential component of this training segment.

The goal was to test tactical and firearms skills in real-world settings while carrying out specific tasks in the Serbian Armed Forces’ operations. They fired from tanks, armoured fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and infantry weapons, the achieved results confirming high proficiency of the 3rd Army Brigade’s soldiers, NCOs and officers.

Lieutenant Colonel Vladica Stanković, commander of the 31st Infantry Battalion, explained that prior to their arrival to Pasuljanske Livade, members of that unit underwent individual and collective training, as well as scheduled live firing, in their home garrison.

— Upon their arrival at the military complex Pasuljanske Livade, members of this unit conducted live firing, namely, preparatory firing of operators of the Lazar 3 wheeled armoured vehicle, MRAP APC, firing with collective weapons of the support platoon, as well as live-fire tactical exercises of the squad, platoon and company.  The successful completion of the tasks, as specified at the commencement of the stationary camp was facilitated by the morale and willingness of the soldiers to conduct firings and all the contents and activities planned at this military complex, Lieutenant Colonel Stanković pointed out.

Sergeant Bojan Zdravković, IFV squad commander, 37th Mechanized Battalion, has underscored the fact that the live-fire tactical exercises conducted at Pasuljanske Livade are designed to adequately prepare them for any tasks that may be assigned to them.

— The most difficult challenge we have faced thus far has been the changing weather conditions, but owing to our determination and commitment, we were able to overcome all obstacles. I would like to commend the dedication and hard work of all crew members, because only in this way can we be able to complete all our assignments – Sgt. Zdravković emphasised.

Following his preparations at the Mija Stanimirović Barracks in Niš, Nikola Marković, a volunteer soldier with the 36th Tank Battalion, disclosed that he fired his first shot with an M-84 tank at this training.

— I am very happy that I hit all targets on my first firing, which was also commended by my superiors. The achievement of yesterday gave me even more motivation to continue serving in professional service with the Serbian Armed Forces - soldier Marković said.

An important part of the field training was additional training of newly recruited soldiers and young officers for their initial roles in the units, who are thus preparing systematically for the most demanding tasks; as a matter of fact, by successfully completing field training, the operational capabilities of these units to carry out their tasks in the first mission of the Serbian Armed Forces have been largely improved.
