State ceremony to mark 25 years since beginning of Battle of Košare

An MOD and SAF delegation laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Defenders of the Homeland 1998-1999 in Rasina Barracks in Kruševac to mark 25 years since the beginning of the Battle of Košare.
The state ceremony was led by Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selaković, and wreaths were laid by members of the Ministry of the Interior, representatives of the local self-government, veterans’ associations and organizations, families of fallen soldiers, fellow soldiers and numerous citizens.
Priests from the Diocese of Kruševac offered a mass for the soldiers killed in Košare and other places during the NATO aggression in 1999. The memorial in Rasina Barracks honours the fallen members of the 125th Motorized Brigade, 58th Light Infantry Brigade, 7th Infantry Brigade and 53rd Border Battalion who gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland in Kosovo and Metohija in the period from 1998 to 1999.
During the Battle of Košare, members of the Yugoslav Army defended the state border for 67 days and prevented the terrorist KLA’s ground invasion of Serbia from Albania.
