State Secretary Starović meets with Congo’s Deputy Minister of National Defense and Military Veterans Awotho



State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Nemanja Starović met today with Deputy Minister of National Defense and Military Veterans of the Democratic Republic of Congo Samuel Adubango Awotho.
On that occasion, an agreement on defence cooperation was signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

State Secretary Starović highlighted that the Democratic Republic of Congo was geographically distant from the Republic of Serbia, but that it actively supported Serbia in its fight for the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty.

- This is a great and important day for both the Republic of Serbia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. By signing the agreement on defence cooperation, we have raised the traditionally good relationship between the two nations to a higher level. Further operationalization and implementation of the provisions of this agreement are ahead of us, which I dare say, is an even more important task -  

Therefore, he said, he is looking forward with great excitement and optimism to the continuation of the delegation's visit over the next few days.
  After signing the agreement, Congo’s Deputy Minister of National Defence and Military Veterans Awotho thanked his Serbian hosts for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries.

- Signing an agreement on defence cooperation is a way to make the partnership between the two countries concrete. In the context of the defence that unites us today, I want to emphasize that the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Serbia have friendly relations and excellent cooperation. I appreciate the efforts of competent authorities of our two countries to confirm our relationship by signing the agreement on defence cooperation, which we concretized today - said the Deputy Minister of National Defense and Military Veterans of Congo.

State Secretary Starović and Deputy Minister Awotho expressed their expectations that in the coming period the two countries would establish and raise defence cooperation to a higher level, as well as cooperation in all other areas of mutual interest.
