Ceremony marking the admission of NCОs to professional service



A ceremony to mark the admission of non-commissioned officers to professional military service and the promotion of 107 graduates of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (21st class) to the rank of sergeant was held today at the "Topčider" barracks in Belgrade.
The ceremony was attended by Acting Assistant Minister of Defence for Human Resources Siniša Radović.
 
Congratulating the newly promoted non-commissioned officers on their first NCO rank, Head of the Operations Directorate (J-3), General Staff, Major General Tiosav Janković, said that by choosing their profession, these people chose the Serbian Armed Forces, and by working honestly and responsibly as professional soldiers, earned the opportunity to attend the 21st Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course.
  - Young non-commissioned officers, the second part of your professional service begins today with your promotion to the rank of sergeant and joining the ranks of the NCO corps. I hope you will fulfil all your tasks and duties conscientiously and responsibly, honourably and consistently, thus helping improve the state of affairs in your future units and build the reputation of the Serbian Armed Forces as a whole - said General Janković.

He told the non-commissioned officers to be proud descendants of their glorious ancestors, being aware of the fact that by defending the honour and freedom of the homeland, they had shown us the path we should pursue.

- May the shining examples in our history encourage and inspire you to be persistent, patient and steadfast in all situations - stressed General Janković.
  Once the orders on the promotion have been read, awards were presented to the three best candidates in class. The top-ranked student, Sergeant Mihajlo Đorđević, was presented with the award by General Janković. Mladen Popović, who ranked second, was presented with the award by Deputy Commander of the Training Command, Brigadier General Jovica Matić, and Sergeant Major of the Serbian Armed Forces, Nenad Stević, presented the award to Bojan Stamenković, who ranked third.

Addressing the audience on behalf of the 21st class of the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course participants, first ranked Sergeant Mihajlo Đorđević said that he and his colleagues had overcome various challenges during their training with joint effort, commitment, great desire and love for the homeland.
  - Through learning, we have developed and strengthened, striving to become the heroes of our time. For us, this is more than a promotion, it is an honour and a challenge to take up our duties in the years when new and modernized weapons and military equipment have entered service and when the Serbian Armed Forces are making progress in every respect. This obliges us to contribute to the Serbian Armed Forces becoming stronger and more powerful each day by putting in maximum effort, being dedicated and perfecting our skills with the newly introduced materiel - Sergeant Đorđević said and added that the "youngest non-commissioned officers" would perform their new duties honourably and responsibly.
