Minister Vučević meets with Minister Zaki in Egypt

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević has started his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt by meeting with Egypt’s Minister of Defense and Military Production, General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki.
Following the welcoming ceremony during which the Honour Guard mounted by members of the Egyptian Armed Forces was inspected and anthems were played, the defence ministers of Serbia and Egypt held a meeting which was also attended by their delegations. Expressing his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him, Minister Vučević said that this visit was another confirmation of the good cooperation between Serbia and Egypt and between the two ministries of defence.

He expressed his commitment to the further development and improvement of relations between the two militaries in the fields of technology, education and military-to-military cooperation.

At the meeting, it was pointed out that there was an upward trend in cooperation between Serbia and Egypt, which was facilitated by the meeting between the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, in Serbia last year.
Minister Vučević highlighted Serbia's long-term strategic commitment to remaining a neutral country, and not being a member of any of the existing military-political organizations. But this does not mean, Minister Vučević pointed out, that we are not willing to improve cooperation with all relevant international actors, especially in the fields of security and defence.

Today’s meeting in Cairo was an opportunity for Minister Vučević to invite General Zaki to participate in the International Arms and Military Equipment Fair "PARTNER 2023", which will be held in Belgrade in September 2023.

At the meeting, General Zaki and Minister Vučević also discussed the security situation in the region and the world.
General Zaki also stressed the importance of continued and enhanced defence cooperation between the two countries, and he singled out military-technical and military to military cooperation as areas of particular importance. He thanked Minister Vučević for the invitation to participate in "PARTNER 2023”, saying that it is an event that brings together participants from all over the world.

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces delegation, led by Minister Vučević, is composed of State Secretary Nemanja Starović, Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, heads of private offices of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Žarko Mićin and Brigadier General Goran Momčilović, Advisor to the Minister of Defence, Nikola Banjac, Air Force and Air Defence Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Brane Krnjajić, Head of the International Military Cooperation Department, Colonel Nebojša Svjetlica, as well as the Serbian Ambassador to Egypt, Miroslav Šestović, and the Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Zdravko Perić.
