Minister Vučević visits 3rd Army Brigade, Mixed Artillery Brigade
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević visited today the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade at the “Mija Stanimirović” barracks in Niš.
Minister Vučević was welcomed by Army Commander, Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, and was briefed on the state of affairs in the units, their primary tasks and plans for the upcoming period by the commander of the 3rd Army Brigade, Colonel Dragan Antić, and the commander of the Mixed Artillery Brigade, Colonel Dejan Novaković.Minister Vučević said that, besides having modern weapons and military equipment, members of the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade were characterized by high morale.
- Today I am visiting two units, accompanied by Army Commander, General Simović – the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade, as well as their commanders, colonels Antić and Novaković, and a number of other officers, NCOs and soldiers. We have seen their new weaponry and military equipment, technical means, but most importantly, the spirit of the personnel of these two famous units that have a long history, and consequently a responsibility to protect what our ancestors fought for – said the Minister of Defence.
According to Minister Vučević, today Serbia is committed to peace, which is our national and state interest.- We constantly work to strengthen the Serbian Armed Forces as a military force that guarantees us peace and independence of our country and as a deterrent against the ill-intentioned. I have understood the challenges and problems that the members of the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade are facing and I believe that working together, the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff and the Army Command will create better living and working conditions for the members of these units and all other members of the Serbian Armed Forces - said Minister Vučević.
The Minister of Defence congratulated the members of the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade on their hard work and dedication to fulfilling all the tasks assigned to them.
- I would like to congratulate you once again on this demonstration offering me an insight into the skills of the members of these two units and I invite all citizens of Serbia to join us at the military airfield in Batajnica on April 22. You will see the latest weaponry and military equipment, you will see our military in all its glory, and you will also see what the 3rd Army Brigade and the Mixed Artillery Brigade possess – said Minister Vučević.After the meeting with unit commanders, the Minister of Defence attended the demonstration given by an air defence artillery battery using 40 mm PASARS intended for providing protection to land forces on the march and during combat action. After presenting key and basic elements of artillery battery training, a tank company demonstrated forming a march and conducting reconnaissance patrol on M84 tanks.
The members of the Mixed Artillery Brigade demonstrated the march of an artillery battery equipped with the 155 mm NORA B-52 self-propelled gun-howitzer and moving into formation for providing support to Army troops. A special part of the demonstration featured the operation of the command reconnaissance BOV KIV vehicle, as well as the use of universal mobile artillery computer station.Finally, Minister Vučević visited the Mixed Artillery Brigade’s memorial room and signed its guest book, inscribing the following message: “The artillery has always been a symbol of the Serbian army and our victories. The glorious tradition and history of our artillery units obliges the members of the Mixed Artillery Brigade to be worthy heirs and keepers of this glorious tradition. As an artilleryman myself, I have a special sense of pride in the past, present and future members of this branch”.
