Youngest SAF paratroopers perform first parachute jumps

Soldiers of the September 2022 intake who are performing the second part of their military service in the 63rd Parachute Brigade have successfully performed their first parachute jumps at Niš-based Military Airfield "Sergeant-Pilot Mihajlo Petrović".
This is the final part of the Basic Paratrooper Training during which the soldiers are required to perform jumps to familiarize themselves with the parachute and its manoeuvrability and practice reserve parachute deployment, jumping under load, free falls and night jumps.

To reach this final stage of Paratrooper Training, soldiers had to complete the Basic Individual Training at the Training Command Centres, followed by tactical, weapons and ground paratrooper training at the 63rd Parachute Brigade. During that period, they acquired basic soldier skills, learned how to handle personal weapons and equipment, as well as parachuting techniques.

The Ground Paratrooper Training focused on learning about the assault parachute, how it is packed and stored and handling parachute devices. Finally, soldiers were able to showcase their skills while performing jumps over the last few days.
Upon successful completion of the Paratrooper Training, soldiers earned the title of a "paratrooper", and are now eligible to become professional members of this elite and highly popular SAF unit.
