Minister Vučević visits 3rd Training Centre in Leskovac
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević visited today the 3rd Training Centre in the “Field Marshal Petar Bojović” barracks in Leskovac.
The commander of the Training Command, Major General Željko Petrović, and the commanders of brigades and Training Command centres welcomed Minister Vučević, and the ensuing meeting discussed key tasks and plans for the upcoming period.Afterwards, Minister Vučević said that he had started his tour of the Jablanica District by visiting those barracks and the Third Training Centre, which had been an opportunity to talk to the commander of the Training Command, General Petrović, and commanders of Training Command units.
- We looked at everything that lies ahead and discussed what we should do next in order to prepare ourselves better and become more motivated to welcome the next class of soldiers who will be doing voluntary military service. We also looked at the missions and tasks of the Training Command in general, which are far more complex and more comprehensive - said Minister Vučević.
During his visit to the Leskovac barracks, Minister Vučević also visited the memorial and paid respects to the heroes who died in the area of responsibility of the 549th Motorized Brigade, defending the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
- It is a great honour for me to visit this sacred place, a memorial dedicated to the heroic 549th Motorized Brigade, heroes of the fatherland who defended our country, Serbia, in the most dangerous zone, the zone of Kosovo and Metohija that was exposed to both NATO aggression and terrorist attacks by the KLA - said Minister Vučević.According to him, that is something that no one should be indifferent about, in order for us to understand what we are obligated to do in the future.
- But not so that we would remain stuck in the past, but so that we would understand the sacrifice they made so that today we can walk freely, talk, make new plans and understand our responsibility towards future generations. I am absolutely amazed by the heroism and the enormous sacrifice made by the 549th Motorized Brigade and I am extremely satisfied with all the activities done by the Training Command, its overall tasks and missions defined by the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff and the Ministry of Defence and what Serbia expects from them - Minister Vučević concluded.
Minister Vučević and General Petrović, accompanied by the commander of the Third Training Centre, Colonel Zoran Cvetković, observed some segments of training and a periodic inspection conducted in the unit and visited soldier accommodation facilities.During today’s visit to Leskovac, Minister Vučević met with the Mayor, Goran Cvetanović.
