Meeting between Minister of Defence and Romanian Ambassador



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Ambassador of Romania to Serbia, H.E. Silvia Davidoiu, today.
The Minister of Defence said he was satisfied with Serbia’s good and continuing relationship with Romania. During the conversation, Minister Vučević stressed that Serbia deeply appreciated Romania’s consistency in respecting the territorial integrity of our country. He thanked Romania’s leadership for their strong support for Serbia’s efforts to become a fully-fledged EU member.     

Minister Vučević said that regional cooperation was one of the Serbian Government’s  foreign policy priorities and stressed that Serbia maintained fruitful cooperation with Romania through regional forums and initiatives, particularly through South-eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) Process.

Later on in the conversation, the Minister of Defence said that the 2023 Bilateral Military Cooperation Program was agreed upon and signed between Serbia and Romania, which would contribute to further strengthening cooperation in that area.

Ambassador Davidoiu congratulated Minister Vučević on his appointment as Minister of Defence. She said that Romania was taking over the SEDM chairmanship in August 2023, and that it expected the support of our country through active participation in the implementation of important projects.
  She emphasized Romania’s participation in KFOR and ALTHEA Operation, thus providing continued support and significant contribution to the region.

The Romanian Ambassador expressed her expectation that defence cooperation would further improve in the coming period.
