Minister of Defence and Chief of General Staff visit flood-affected areas in Tutin

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović, visited the flood-affected areas in the municipality of Tutin, where members of the Serbian Armed Forces, under orders from the President of the Republic and Supreme Commander Aleksandar Vučić, were urgently deployed to repair the damage caused by bad weather.
Minister of the Interior Bratislav Gašić and Minister of Tourism and Youth Husein Memić were also in attendance.

On this occasion, Minister Vučević said that the Serbian Armed Forces always stood by their people in difficult situations.

- Under orders from the President of the Republic and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Chief of the General Staff has issued all the necessary orders and instructions as to what the units should do in the field. We are available for assistance of any kind, along with the Ministry of the Interior, Sector for Emergency Management and local self-governments in Novi Pazar and Tutin. In Novi Pazar, we have utilized part of the Serbian Armed Forces’ personnel and machinery in accordance with the request of Novi Pazar’s Emergency Management Headquarters. We are here with the President of the Municipality of Tutin to reaffirm that, should the need arise, the Serbian Armed Forces will do everything within their capabilities, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior - said Minister Vučević. According to him, the state authorities work together to address the effects of bad weather, regardless of the department and the part of Serbia that is affected.

According to him, the consequences of flooding are often exacerbated by the actions of citizens who construct buildings in places where it is prohibited to do so or throw waste into riverbeds.

- Let this be another warning to all of us. I am not talking about the administration, I am talking about all the citizens of this country - said Vučević.
