Meeting between Minister Vučević and EU Ambassador to Serbia

Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Miloš Vučević met with the Head of the Delegation of European Union to the Republic of Serbia Emanuele Giaufret.
During the meeting, Minister Vučević said that Serbia, as a country aspiring to join the EU, was a predictable and reliable partner in the implementation of the EU Common Security and Defence Policy. According to him, Serbia as a partner state, has participated in six EU missions and operations so far, and in 2023, the Serbian Armed Forces will be on standby as part of the EU’s HELBROC Battlegroup for the second time.

Minister Vučević emphasized Serbia’s commitment, as a neutral state, to constantly improve its defence system and increase its capability to respond effectively to security challenges and threats of importance for the defence. He thanked the EU Delegation for its support for the implementation of the “Strengthening the capacity of the Republic of Serbia for demining and destruction of unexploded ordnance” project.
The interlocutors positively evaluated the cooperation on the projects, which, with the financial support from the European Union, had been in an upward trend over the past period. They concluded that there was a mutual willingness to continue cooperation in the upcoming period.
