Participation in South-Eastern Europe Deputy Chiefs of Defence Meeting



Deputy Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, Lieutenant General Petar Cvetković, has attended the meeting held as part of the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM). The meeting was held today in Kranj, Slovenia.
The meeting, which was held in the Deputy Chiefs of Defence format, discussed the activities and progress made in the implementation of projects of this regional initiative, as well as the activities of the SEEBRIG South-Eastern Europe Brigade.

Addressing the gathering, General Cvetković stressed that the Republic of Serbia was fully committed to respecting international law, the territorial integrity of sovereign states, and the United Nations Charter and improving defence and security cooperation with key international organizations, and actively contributing to development and strengthening good neighbourly relations and cooperation within regional forums.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the member countries of the initiative — Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro, and representatives of international organizations.
  The process of cooperation between defence ministers of the South-Eastern Europe countries — the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) was launched in 1996, and the Republic of Serbia became a full member in 2010. The main goal of SEDM is to improve understanding and intensify political and military cooperation in the region, in order to strengthen security in this part of Europe.
