Military pentathlon team achieves top results at “Tribalion” race

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, has congratulated members of the Military Academy and the Military Grammar School pentathlon sports section on the results they have achieved in the "Tribalion" mountain obstacle course race held today on the Tara Mountain with over 2,000 competitors participating.
"This is another in a series of the military pentathlon team’s triumphs. With each new medal they show how great and invincible they are!"

They have achieved top results in the mountain obstacle course race "Tribalion" on the Tara Mountain, among the largest number of competitors so far. Military Grammar School students took second place in the 12 km race, and their Military Academy colleagues came in third in the team competition. The Military Academy team finished the 23 km race third.

Well done, boys and girls! Your strength, endurance and iron will are an example to all young people, I am proud of you!", wrote Minister Stefanović in his Facebook post.

Showing the skill in overcoming obstacles using a combination of physical and mental strength and endurance was a real challenge, given the exhausting obstacle course in the mountainous terrain. The competitors encountered a 12-kilometer "Green" track with an elevation gain of about 400 metres and 25 obstacles, and the 23-kilometre "Challenge" track with 35 obstacles and elevation gain of 1,150 metres.

Jumping over beams, climbing wooden walls and ladders, swimming under water obstacles, carrying and towing 15 kg loads uphill, crawling through mud, and javelin throwing are some of the major obstacles that make competitions like this attractive, and if a competitor is unable to overcome an obstacle, he or she does a substitute high intensity cardio exercise.

By winning medals in the "Tribalion" race, members of the Military Academy and Military Grammar School pentathlon team continue their series of top results at prestigious sports events.
