Minister Stefanović visits Technical Overhaul Institute “Čačak“



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, visited the Technical Overhaul Institute "Čačak" today. After being presented with the newly built facility, he said he is glad that this overhaul institute is more modern and advanced today than in former years. According to him, investing in this military institution will continue, so that our armed forces can continue to keep pace with the modern world and be a leader in the region.
  After being briefed by the director of the Technical Overhaul Institute "Čačak", Colonel Vojkan Radonjić, PhD, on the organization of work, facilities for the overhaul and maintenance of weapons and military equipment, and the progress of work in expanding the capacities of this Army institution, Minister Stefanović visited the facility providing maintenance to caterpillar vehicles, and a newly built facility for the overhaul of electronic and electromechanical equipment.

- The Technical Overhaul Institute in Čačak is one of the most important institutions in our armed forces. It is part of the Army, but is working on the development of a large number of means together with other organizational units, such as the Military Technical Institute - said Minister Stefanović.
 
During the visit, he said that today, the Technical Overhaul Institute “Čačak” is more modern and advanced compared to former years.
- Today, we can see here the most modern building where optronic devices, which are mounted on our weapons systems, are tested, where our M-84 tank is being upgraded to M-84 AS1 and AS2, and where our T-55 tank is being modernized, despite the opinions of some people in the past that it would be of no further use, but the military can put every weapon at its disposal to good use - said Minister Stefanović.
 
The Minister of Defence expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Technical Overhaul Institute has continued to recruit new personnel and that it strives to attract young engineers and other experts.
  - We will advertise open competitions for new job openings, so young people are more than welcome to come here. We will strive to stimulate them by increasing salaries, not only for the people working in the Technical Overhaul Institute "Čačak", but also in other overhaul institutes in our ministry and armed forces, and to follow the global trends. Serbia will strive to keep up with the modern world and show that its armed forces and its military industry are not lagging behind, but are leaders in some fields - said Minister Stefanović.
 
He thanked members of the Army and the Technical Overhaul Institute for being responsible and dedicated to work.
The Ministry will continue to invest in military technology, because we want Serbia to continue to be a leader in technology and innovation, not only here, but in the whole world - said Minister Stefanović.
 
Besides the Minister of Defence, the Technical Overhaul Institute was visited by Assistant Minister for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, PhD, Deputy Army Commander, Major General Slađan Stamenković, Head of Defence Minister’s Office, Colonel Stevan Kotarlić, and Head of the Infrastructure Department, Colonel Slobodan Starčević, PhD.
