Training on Self-Propelled Howitzers Gvozdika

Artillery Battalion of the Fourth Army Brigade is currently holding regular training of soldiers and superior officers and non-commissioned officers on self-propelled howitzers 122mm 2S1 “Gvozdika”.

The intensive training is carried out in the unit throughout the year, so that the members of the battalion are trained at every moment for efficient combat use of this complex artillery system.

In this period, the crews of the self-propelled howitzers are trained for the preparation and execution of indirect artillery firing in winter conditions, when snow and adverse weather conditions make it difficult to conduct reconnaissance, select and mask firing position and determine firing elements. The focus is place on practicing activities and procedures that include transition of the weapon from marching to firing, adjusting firing elements and the work of the crew after given fire command.

This training cycle will be completed with the realisation of a live firing tactical exercise on the training area “Pasuljanske Livade” when the practical competence of the howitzer crews to execute assigned tasks is to be tested.

The self-propelled howitzer 2S1 “Gvozdika” is an artillery system intended for the provision of support to the Army units, by destruction and neutralisation of enemy personnel and firing assets out of shelters, by demolition of points of resistance and wire obstacles and by making passage in mine fields.
