Minister Stefanović meets with Ambassador of Republic of Korea H.E. Mr Choe



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Hyoung-Chan Choe.

Minister Stefanović emphasized friendly relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea and an upward trend in bilateral cooperation in numerous fields. He added that there was a potential for the improvement of cooperation in the field of defence and its harmonization with the overall relations between the two countries, especially in the field of military-technical cooperation.
Minister Stefanović invited Korea to participate in the “Partner“ Fair in Belgrade, emphasizing that it would be a great opportunity to explore the possibility of cooperation between the two countries’ defence industry companies and ministries of defence.

Stefanović thanked the Republic of Korea for the donation sent to the Military Medical Academy and other Korea’s donations to support Serbia’s fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

Ambassador Choe pointed out that bilateral relations between the two countries were good and expressed belief that they would be improved in the coming period, including the relations in the field of defence. He conveyed Korea’s readiness to harmonize and sign the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Defence between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea, as a legal framework that would ensure further development of cooperation in various fields.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea invited Minister Stefanović to participate in the United Nations Ministerial Meeting on peacekeeping operations, which will be held in Seoul in December 2021.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea donated 1000 protective face masks to the Ministry of Defence in today’s meeting.
