President Vučić meets with Admiral Burke, Allied Joint Force Command Naples Commander



President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić welcomed today Admiral Robert Burke, Allied Joint Force Command Naples Commander. President Vučić and Admiral Burke discussed forms of cooperation with NATO, within Serbia’s policy of military neutrality. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović.

According to President Vučić, in addition to the fact that Serbia has been a member of NATO's "Partnership for Peace" programme for fifteen years, there has been a regular dialogue between our country's representatives and the officials of the Alliance's political and military structures, which has strengthened mutual understanding and trust.
Given that the Allied Joint Force Command Naples is in charge of KFOR, President Vučić said that the members of that mission had an important role in maintaining peace and stability and protecting Serbs and other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija.

President Vučić also underlined the importance of scientific and technological cooperation projects, as well as cooperation in other areas, especially in the field of civil protection and emergency situations. Within the framework of this cooperation, we hosted the largest exercise ever organized with about 2,000 participants from NATOmember and partner countries in 2018.

During the conversation, the significance of participation of members of the Serbian Armed Forces in international UN and EU missions was emphasized as well as their contribution to peace and stability in different parts of the world.

Admiral Burke underlined NATO’s appreciation of ​​Serbia as its partner and its respect for Serbia’s military neutrality. He mentioned a significant number of held and scheduled joint activities, which also increased the readiness of members of the Serbian Armed Forces. Admiral Burk emphasized the importance of Serbia for peace and stability in the region.

President Vučić sent greetings to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and thanked him for his readiness to listen and understand Serbia's views.
