Meeting of Ministers Vulin and Shoygu in Moscow: Our cooperation is at a historic high and it has never been richer




The Minister of Defence, Aleksandar Vulin, met today with the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army, Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu, at the Alabino training ground near Moscow. Minister Vulin is visiting the Russian Federation at the invitation of the Russian Minister of Defence.
Ministers Vulin and Shoygu talked about the cooperation in the field of defence and its further enhancement. The cooperation has been in an upward trend since 2012 and has been developing in accordance with the Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2013 by the Presidents and Supreme Commanders Aleksandar Vučić and Vladimir Putin.
 
Ministers Vulin and Shoygu agreed that the cooperation in the field of defence is at a historic high and that it has never been richer.
- Today, I had the honour to convey the greetings of the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, to Minister Shoygu and to inform him about the results of the talks held in Washington. We have proved once again that President Vučić represented the state of Serbia in the best way and made sure that the issue of Kosovo’s independence is not raised in any way – said Minister Vulin after the meeting.

- Minister Shoygu is a true friend of the Republic of Serbia. He shows that at every step, and the provisions of the Military Technical Agreement signed by the Supreme Commanders of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Serbian Armed Forces – Presidents Putin and Vučić, are implemented exactly as planned, on time and in accordance with the previously reached agreements – said Minister Vulin.

He emphasized that “nothing can break the friendship between our nations and countries”.
- I reiterated that Serbia is firmly on the path of neutrality, that we make sure that our policy is always peaceful, and that we take care of the interests of Serbia and Serbs, Minister Vulin pointed out.  

- The policy of neutrality enables us to cooperate with the Russian Federation, to participate in numerous military activities, to raise numerous military issues and to modernize and strengthen our armed forces. I am grateful to Minister Shoygu for his personal contribution to the development of our relations and I look forward to the continuation of our military technical cooperation – said Minister Vulin and added that he suggested to Minister Shoygu that Serbia host of one of the events of the International Army Games next year.
Minister Vulin expressed satisfaction with the tenth meeting with Minister Shoygu since the beginning of his term, and he assessed the meeting as a new impetus and a concrete contribution to the development and strengthening of the cooperation, especially in the field of defence.
