Minister Vulin: We’ve saved Serbia from migrant crisis

- From 2015, when it was the most difficult and when the migrant crisis was at its peak, until today, the Republic of Serbia has shown that it is most successful when it comes to dealing with the consequences of the migrant crisis. Thanks to the people in the Commissariat, thanks to the volunteers and the members of the entire system - the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, President Aleksandar Vučić and all those who made a major contribution to the migrant crisis leaving the least possible consequences in the Republic of Serbia, we can say today that we are the most successful country when it comes to resolving the consequences of the migrant crisis - said the Minister of Defence and the President of the Working Group for Mixed Migration, Aleksandar Vulin, who visited today the Migrant Reception Centre in Obrenovac, where the renovation of the Centre’s facilities, funded by the European Union, is underway.

According to Minister Vulin, today there are 4,200 migrants in collective centres in our country, and none of the migrants are infected with the coronavirus. From the moment of the greatest Covid crisis until today, the migrant reception centres have been the only form of collective housing in the whole of Europe where not a single user has been infected with Covid-19.

- Serbia has shown how successful, organized and humane it is, but also that it takes great care that our everyday life is not disturbed in any way. We are witnesses to the fact that we manage to deal with the consequences of the migrant crisis and all those stupid and malicious claims about 400 thousand migrants who will settle in Serbia, about the cities that are being built, about numerous returnees from Western Europe are stupid, meaningless and malicious lies intended to hurt the citizens of Serbia and all these wonderful people from the Commissariat who work every day and make sacrifices so that life in Serbia could run smoothly and that our quality of life is not endangered in any way, regardless of the influx of migrants - Minister Vulin emphasized.

Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Vladimir Cucić, and his associates also visited the Migrant Reception Centre today.
