Joint engagement of CBRN teams of the Serbian Armed Forces and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the disinfection of health centres in Belgrade



Mobile teams of the Serbian Armed Forces’ CBRN Units and the military experts of the NBC Units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have worked together for the first time today in the City of Belgrade on the implementation of measures aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19.

Liaison Officer to cooperate with the NBC Units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Major Negovan Ivanković, PhD, a professor at the Department of Military Chemical Engineering at the Military Academy of the University of Defence, pointed out that Serbian and Russian CBRN military teams are working on the implementation of disinfection measures in health centres and health care facilities throughout Serbia.

- Today in Belgrade, three CBRN teams were engaged in disinfection tasks at 19 locations in different parts of the city. Together with our colleagues from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation we have been trying for weeks to contribute and help our health care system to function normally - said Major Ivanković, adding that cooperation with colleagues from the Russian Federation who came to help us has been an invaluable experience.

He emphasized that every day there is an increasing number of locations where disinfection is carried out, and added that our CBRN teams are engaged throughout Serbia.

Speaking about the joint engagement, the Leader of the NBC team of the Russian Armed Forces, Captain Sergei Shorupov, emphasized that disinfection is being carried out today in Belgrade at several locations and facilities.

- When it comes to technology, the characteristics are similar and that is why we can disinfect a much larger number of facilities at the same time - said Captain Shorupov, adding that teams from the Russian Federation disinfect the interior of the facilities, while the Serbian CBRN teams disinfect everything that is outside.

Captain Sergei Shorupov expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with members of the CBRN units of the Serbian Armed Forces and the opportunity to exchange experiences.

- Colleagues from the Serbian Armed Forces are well organized and professional - said Captain Shorupov.

During the engagement, the CBRN units of the Serbian Armed Forces perform all their tasks in accordance with all the general and special protection measures in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 viral infection.
