Minister Vulin: The Serbian Armed Forces take care of their active and retired members

The Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin handed over a package of food and hygiene supplies to retired Major Rajko Rakić today to help him and his wife Ljubinka spend the days in isolation more easily. Isolation has been introduced for all Serbian citizens over the age of 65, as a prevention measure against the spread of the coronavirus.

Rajko Rakić and his wife, Ljubinka, who have been married for 67 years, say they cope with isolation well and adhere to the measures introduced by the state to protect their citizens. Although he is 95 years old, Rajko points out that, thanks to television, the internet and newspapers, he follows the current situation in the country and has numerous interests.
Rajko and Ljubinka Rakić view Minister Vulin's gesture as an expression of concern for both the elderly citizens and military pensioners, and point out that, thanks to their daughter and a young neighbour, who supply them, they have enough of everything.

After he delivered the assistance package to Rakić family, Minister Vulin reiterated that the Serbian Armed Forces take care of all their members, whether active or retired.

- We all have to take care of our eldest citizens. The fight against the coronavirus is a fight for the health of each of us, but in the first place it is a fight for our elderly, so that they can live with us for a long time. All retired members of the Serbian Armed Forces can contact our psychological counselling centre. We have put relevant phone numbers on our website, so please feel free to contact us, tell us if you have a problem, if something is bothering you. You should know that the Serbian Armed Forces are thinking of you - Minister Vulin said.

Zvonimir Pešić, a member of the Professional Service of the Association of Military Pensioners of Serbia and editor-in-chief of the "Military Veteran" magazine, points out that military pensioners act very responsibly and adhere to the prescribed measures.
