The construction of flats for members of the security forces began in Belgrade

Minister Vulin: This is the way for Serbia to show you how exceptional you are

- The President and the Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces Aleksandar Vučić said that being a member of any security structure or organisation is more than just a job – it is a life mission. It is your choice, your commitment to dedicate your life to the freedom of your Serbia. This is a way for Serbia to thank you and tell you how special and exceptional you are and that Serbia will be safer and will last longer because you are here – the Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin said today in his address at the Cornerstone Laying ceremony at Pupin’s Bridge in Zemun, which is the beginning of the construction of flats for the members of security forces in Belgrade.

The Minister of Defence said that President Vučić takes special care of each member of the defence system, taking into account their and their families’ feelings.

- When you solve the biggest life problem – namely, when you get a roof over your head, you can focus on the thing that you have dedicated your lives to – i.e. the security and safety of Serbia – Minister Vulin pointed out.

He then pointed out that today Serbia thanks the members of the security forces who look after the security of our country and who have dedicated their lives to its peace, freedom and security.

The cornerstone was laid by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić and Minister Vulin along with the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Republic of Serbia, the Minister of Internal Affairs Nebojša Stefanović and the Minister of Transport, Construction and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović, the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Zoran Đorđević, the Director of the Security Information Agency Bratislav Gašić and the Mayor of Belgrade Zoran Radojičić.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić pointed out that she wishes to thank once again, here, in Belgrade, all the members of security forces for everything they do, for their sacrifice and everything they are prepared to do for the Republic of Serbia and all its citizens.

- This is another way for us as the state, as the Government, together with the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vučić, to thank you and your families. In the past years we fought for you to have better working conditions and higher salaries. Thanks to successful implementation of fiscal consolidation measures, which was also initiated by Aleksandar Vučić while he was the Prime Minister, we were able to increase salaries in the security sector by 38 to 48 per cent. Today the conditions are better, but not good enough, so we will continue to work together – the Prime Minister pointed out.

The ceremony marking the beginning of the construction of flats for the members of security forces at Pupin’s Bridge in Zemun was attended by the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Information Agency and the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions.

One of the attendees was Major Nevenka Darmanović serving in the Ministry of Defence, who is interested in solving her housing issue in this way, by buying one of the flats for the members of the security forces.

- As far as I am concerned, there is a saying in our language – “Good things come to those who wait“. I hope that I have finally got to get a “roof over my head” in this way, because I have lived in the barracks with my family for 17 years - said Major Darmanović, adding that the location in Zemun is very good. She also thanked everyone who made it possible for the members of the security forces to solve housing issue in this way.
