Minister Vulin: Logistics units stand ready to meet every need of our Armed Forces

Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin visited one of the warehouses of the Central Logistics Base of the Serbian Armed Forces today accompanied by the commander of that unit, Brigadier General Petar Latković.

After the briefing and visiting the storage facilities, Minister Vulin emphasized that the story of Logistics and men who perform this job in our Armed Forcesremains an untold story from 1999.

⁃ It really took tremendous knowledge, organization, readiness, ability and courage to extract our entire reserves from the NATO aggression and to suffer minor losses from such an aggressor with such aerial superiority. Since NATO aggression, to date, more than 80 objects of the Serbian Armed Forces are still contaminated by unexploded ordnance, which is something we have to deal with faster this year as well– said Minister Vulin.

According to him, the military infrastructure deserves our attention, it deserves to be significantly improved, to make the work of Logistics easier, but also to make the life of local governments safer and more secure.

- The Serbian Armed Forces will continue to rebuild, but also to learn from more developed and richer Armed Forces than we are; to adopt the latest developments in military infrastructure, and certainly ensure that our logistics units are equipped, secure and ready to follow up every need of ourArmed Forces– concluded Minister Vulin.

The commander of the First Storage Battalion of the Central Logistics Base, Lieutenant Colonel Miroslav Maksimović, said that during the visit, the conditions in which the unit performed daily tasks were examined.

 - The basic purpose of this unit is to supply all units of the Serbian Armed Forces and to maintain continuous logistical support – said Lieutenant Colonel Maksimović, adding that the battalion performs all assigned tasks on a daily basis.

The Central Logistics Base is the largest logistics unit in the Serbian Armed Forces whose main purpose is the implementation of tasks within the supply function in the defense system, with basic movable and spare parts, ordnance and propulsion assets, quartermaster, medical and veterinary movable items.
