The entire year passed under the slogan “120 years with you” so the concert, in that spirit, confirmed diversity of repertoire, genre adaptability, high artistic criteria and wide range of performing capabilities of the Ensemble and the Choir. It provided an opportunity for captivating solo performances of the Ensemble musicians.

Katarina Božić and Major Igor Mitrović alternately stood at conductor’s podium.

Greeting the audience, the Orchestra leader Major Nikola Živković said that the programme for the Concert was a “one of a kind summary of this year’s performances”.

The audience in the brimming Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club enjoyed in the sounds of the Overture from “The Marriage of Figaro”, Shubert’s “Ave Maria”, intermezzo from “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Big City Waltz, Clarinet Polka, Chorus of Hebrew Slaves from Verdi’s opera “Nabucco” and music from the films “Game of Thrones” and “Columbus”, while the Concertmaster of the Ensemble Uroš Kovandžić delighted the audience with the performance of one of the most beautiful violin themes from the film “Schindler’s List”.

Soloists of “Binički” Ensemble were a young oboist Božidar Antić, who performed Morricone’s work “Gabriel’s Oboe”, a flute player Marija Vukadinović and an accordionist Sergeant Branislav Ivković who played Piazzolla’s “Oblivion” and “Libertango” and Major Dušan Stamenković, a clarinet player, played Strauss’s Polka.

The playfulness and New Year atmosphere were conjured up by melodies of “Can Can”, “Tiko, Tiko”, “Coffee Serenade” with a likeable performance of the conductors, “Waltz Potpourri”, and by the Concert guests – a dance couple from the School “Army Dance” Sanja Polić and Stefan Ristić.

The Concert of “Binički” Ensemble and Choir of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces was a gift to the citizens of Belgrade and guests of Belgrade for the forthcoming New Year and Christmas holidays, which is the last concert in the cycle “120 Years with You” and winter intermezzo before the start of concert season 2020.
