Chief of General Staff visits the Republic of Cyprus




Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, is on a visit to the Republic of Cyprus at the invitation of commander of the National Guard of Cyprus, Lieutenant General Ilias Leontaris.
During the talks, the delegations of the Serbian Armed Forces and the National Guard of Cyprus discussed the possibilities for improving military-to-military cooperation and exchanged views on the current security situation in the region and worldwide.  It was agreed that the focus of cooperation in the forthcoming period should be on training and professional development of special and engineer units, as well as cooperation in the field of CBRN defence.
 
They underlined the importance of the engagement of the Serbian Armed Forces members in the United Nations Mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP) in which members of the Serbian Armed Forces have participated since 2010.
                    
During his stay in the Republic of Cyprus, the chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces met with the defence minister of that country, Savvas Angelides.
 
During his visit, General Mojsilović will make a tour of the 4th Infantry Brigade and Special Forces Base of the National Guard of Cyprus and lay a wreath at the Makedonitissa Military Cemetery.
